 COUNTY CHAIRS

KATHY DICENZO -- DETROIT/TRI-COUNTY CO-CHAIR

Kathy Di Cenzo is a co-owner of Professional Practice Resources, Inc., a medical billing company. Kathy's firm got its start doing mental health billing. As the company expanded to other specialties, she felt the need to network with other billers. She attended one of the Flint MMBA meetings and realized the potential of this unique organization. Kathy sought approval from the MMBA founders to start a Detroit chapter and 14 years later, she and co-chair Edris Thornton are still hosting members three times a year at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Warren! Kathy hopes that the Detroit seminars provide insight to insurance regulations, growth in billing knowledge, and camaraderie with fellow billers.  “We're all in this together, so we might as well have fun with each other while we're figuring it all out!”

EDRIS THORNTON -- DETROIT/TRI-COUNTY CO-CHAIR

Edris Thornton is the owner of Thornton Consulting Group, Inc. a consulting and medical billing company.  Prior to starting her company she was the Billing Manager for Comprehensive Family Medical Center, P.C. in Redford Township.  While there she met Kathy Dicenzo and was introduced to the MMBA.  After talking to Kathy and discussing the need to bring on more speakers she started making calls to the insurance representatives in her area.  This started her role as the Detroit Co-Chair and she is still there today hosting meetings with Kathy.  Their hope is to broaden the exposure to the MMBA, continue to get the word out to billers in the area and keep the group going strong during a time when we need it most.
