PJ LOVE -- PRESIDENT OF MMBA
PJ Love is the owner of Physician Billing Services of Mid Michigan Inc. in East Lansing. Her company provides multi specialty medical billing services and Accounts Receivable Management consulting. In 1993, she contacted the Flint Michigan Medical Billers Association (MMBA) and initiated the Lansing chapter for MMBA. PJ now holds the position of President. She is also a member of the Michigan Medical Group Management Association, the American Academy of Professionals Coders, the Lansing area Orthopedic Biller’s Group, and the Provider Outreach and Education Advisor Group for Medicare. PJ feels that the MMBA has been instrumental in making effective changes for medical billers and insurance carriers. “It has been my privilege to be a part of this exceptional group of medical professionals.”
THERESA KING -- PAST PRESIDENT OF MMBA
Theresa King is employed with CBIZ MMP as an Operations Manager. Theresa is also a member of the MMGMA, Radiology Business Managers Association, Medicare’s Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Group, and the Genesee County Prompt Pay Task Force. She takes every opportunity available to voice the concerns of MMBA members to these associations. “MMBA meetings are a fun way for me to stay on top of current billing issues. They are a great place to share ideas and strategies for dealing with the complexities of billing.”
LUANN JENKINS -- VICE PRESIDENT OF MMBA
LuAnn Jenkins, CPC, CEMC, CFPC is the president/owner of MedTrust LLC, a consulting and medical billing firm located in Lapeer, Michigan. With over 24 years in the coding and reimbursement field, LuAnn provides audits, training and manages medical billing accounts for multiple specialties including physical therapy, cardiology, chiropractic, and family practice. She has a background in surgical specialties including neurosurgery, plastic/reconstructive and orthopedics. She is a speaker on coding and reimbursement issues as well as a contracted consultant for the Michigan State Medical Society. LuAnn is a member of Medicare’s Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Group, American Academy of Professional coders, and the Vice President and Genesee County Co-Chair for the MMBA.
MELISSA BOUGHNER -- SECRETARY OF MMBA
Melissa Boughner is employed by Mid-Michigan Physicians, PC in Lansing. MMP is a large multi-specialty physician group including, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Ob-gyn, Hematology-Oncology, Nephrology, Physical Medicine and Rehab, Occupational Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Urgent Care and diagnostic services. Melissa has been employed with MMP for 14 years working in most areas, including her great interest in provider credentialing. Melissa has been a member of MMBA for 5 years and in January 2008 has taken on the role of secretary. She is also a member of the Michigan Medical Group Management Association. “In our ever changing world of medical billing, groups like MMBA are imperative to getting accurate and current information. I look forward to working with all involved with MMBA.”
BARB SZKOTNICKI -- TREASURER OF MMBA
Barbara Szkotnicki, CPC is a Principal and Consultant for Rehmann, based in the Lansing area. Barbara has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare management, dealing with all types of specialties. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services from Central Michigan University and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Community Development-Health Services Administration at Central Michigan University. Just to name a few, her areas of expertise are Reimbursement and Information Management Systems, Practice Coding and Documentation Analysis, Practice Management and EMR Software, Compliance and HIPAA. Barb joined the MMBA in 2004 and currently holds the title of Board Treasurer. “MMBA provides billers unique education opportunities and we help each other with the day-to-day issues we face with reimbursement and insurance companies.”
LATICIA WING -- INSURANCE LIAISON OF MMBA
Laticia Wing, CPC, ACS-OR, is the Billing Supervisor for Michigan State University Sports Medicine. She is specialty certified in Orthopedics. She has worked in the medical field for 25 years with previous billing experience in hospital and home healthcare billing. Several years ago, feeling the need for specialty specific networking opportunities, she created a monthly meeting for orthopedic billers in the Lansing and Tri-Co areas. This group has continued throughout the years and the opportunity to share information and resources has proven to be invaluable. Laticia joined the MMBA in February of 2007 as the Insurance Liaison. “The MMBA is an exceptional resource for all billers, the networking opportunities are endless and I am honored to be affiliated with such a great organization”
AMY LASLEY -- COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER OF MMBA
Amy Lasley is the Insurance Liaison for CBIZ MMP, specializing in Radiology and Pathology reimbursement. Prior to that, she was billing for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation providers. Having served on the board since 2007, originally as a co-chair for the Genesee County Chapter, Amy now holds the position of Communications Officer.. Amy is also a member of Medicare’s Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Group. “Being that the medical insurance industry is ever-changing, MMBA is a great resource for new and seasoned billers alike.”
