LuAnn Jenkins PRESIDENT OF MMBA and FLINT/GENESEE CO-CHAIR LuAnn Jenkins CPMA, CMRS, CPC,CEMC, CFPC is the President of the Michigan Medical Billers Association and owner of MedTrust LLC a practice management consulting firm located in Lapeer, Michigan. With over 27 years in the coding and reimbursement field LuAnn performs office assessments, chart reviews, education/training and provides medical billing. She is a speaker on coding and reimbursement issues for the American Academy of Professional Coders and the Michigan State Medical Society as well as a contracted consultant for the Michigan State Medical Society. LuAnn is a member of the AAPC, and the 2006 AAPC Coder of the year. |

Barbara Szkotnicki VICE PRESIDENT OF MMBA AND COMMUNICATIONS Co-DIRECTOR Barbara Szkotnicki, CPC is the owner of Barbara Szkotnicki Consulting, LLC, which specializes in Medical Practice Consulting. Barbara has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare management, dealing with all specialties. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Health Services from Central Michigan University. Just to name a few, her areas of expertise are Medical and Dental Reviews, Reimbursement and Information Management Systems, Practice Assessment and Operations Analysis, Practice Management and EMR implementations and consulting, Compliance and HIPAA. Barb joined the MMBA in 2004 and currently holds the title of Vice President and Co-Director of Communications. Barb is a member of AAPC, MMGMA and MGMA. MMBA provides billers unique education opportunities and we help each other with the day-to-day issues that medical practices face in this time of declining reimbursement. |

P J Love TREASURER OF MMBA AND PAST PRESIDENT OF MMBA PJ Love is the owner of Physician Billing Services of Mid Michigan Inc. in East Lansing. She has over 25 years of professional billing and consulting services. Her company provides multi specialty medical billing as well as coding and consulting services. PJ established the Michigan Medical Billers Association (MMBA) for the Lansing area chapter in 1993. She is currently the Treasurer of the MMBA, an organization dedicated to the professional development and education of medical billers. She is also a member of the Michigan Medical Group Management Association, American Academy of Professional Coders, American Medical Billing Association and the Lansing area Orthopedic Billers Group. | |

Amanda Yarbrough SECRETARY OF MMBA and GRAND RAPIDS CO-CHAIR Amanda Yarbrough, CPC is a medical biller for Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan in Grand Rapids. Prior to this, she worked for Medical Management Specialists in the accounts receivable department. Amanda graduated from Davenport University's Billing and coding program. She currently has six years of experience in the medical insurance field and is the head of credentialing at Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan. Amanda is also a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders. As of January 2009, she will serve as co-chair for the Grand Rapids chapter for MMBA. Laticia Wing INSURANCE LIAISON OF MMBA Laticia Wing, CPC, ACS-OR, is the Billing Supervisor for Michigan State University. She is specialty certified in Orthopedics. She has worked in the medical field for 25 years with previous billing experience in hospital and home healthcare billing. Several years ago, feeling the need for specialty specific networking opportunities, she created a monthly meeting for orthopedic billers in the Lansing and Tri-Co areas. This group has proven to be an invaluable resource for networking and sharing information. Laticia joined the MMBA in February of 2007 as the Insurance Liaison and has continued in this role every since. Melissa Boughner COMMUNICATIONS Co-Director Melissa Boughner is employed as the Billing Services Co-coordinator at Mid-Michigan Physicians, PC in Lansing. MMP is a large multi-specialty physician group including, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Ob-gyn, Hematology-Oncology, Nephrology, Physical Medicine and Rehab, General Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Urgent Care, Infectious Disease, Podiatry and Diagnostic services. Melissa has been employed with MMP for 18 years working in most areas, including her great interest in provider credentialing. Melissa has been a member of MMBA for 8 years, including 2 years serving as Secretary. Melissa has worked as a co-project manager implementing EHR throughout MMP. Amy Lasley DIRECTOR OF MARKETING/RECRUITING Amy Lasley, CPC is a Clinical Health Informatics Specialist for the Genesys PHO. Prior to that, she worked as a billing supervisor and insurance liaison for a large Radiology and Pathology billing service, and also billed for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation providers. Having served on the board since 2007, originally as a co-chair for the Genesee County Chapter, Amy now holds the position of Director of Marketing/Recruiting. Kathy Di Cenzo DETROIT/TRI-COUNTY CO-CHAIR Kathy Di Cenzo, CPC is a co-owner of Professional Practice Resources, Inc., a medical billing company. Kathy's firm got its start doing mental health billing. As the company expanded to other specialties, she felt the need to network with other billers. She attended one of the Flint MMBA meetings and realized the potential of this unique organization. Kathy sought approval from the MMBA founders to start a Detroit chapter and 18 years later, she and co-chair Edris Thornton are still hosting members three times a year at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Warren! Kathy hopes that the Detroit seminars provide insight to insurance regulations, growth in billing knowledge, and camaraderie with fellow billers. Edris Thornton DETROIT/TRI-COUNTY CO-CHAIR Edris Thornton is the owner of Thornton Consulting Group, Inc. a consulting and medical billing company. Prior to starting her company she was the Billing Manager for Comprehensive Family Medical Center, P.C. in Redford Township. While there she met Kathy Dicenzo and was introduced to the MMBA. After talking to Kathy and discussing the need to bring on more speakers she started making calls to the insurance representatives in her area. This started her role as the Detroit Co-Chair and she is still there today hosting meetings with Kathy. Their hope is to broaden the exposure to the MMBA, continue to get the word out to billers in the area and keep the group going strong during a time when we need it most. | |

Kimberly Mathews FLINT/GENESSEE CO-CHAIR Kim Mathews has served the medical billing community for more than 20 years. Her professional credentialing includes; Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) and she obtained her Associate's Degree in Business from Baker College. Kim serves on the Board of the Michigan Medical Billers Association (MMBA) and is also a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the American Medical Billers Association (AMBA). Julie Zuidema GRAND RAPIDS CO-CHAIR Julie Zuidema, CPC, CMRS is the billing manager for Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan in Grand Rapids. Julie has over 10 years experience in the medical billing industry, including previous employment with Medical Management Specialists and Lakewood Family Medicine. She is a graduate of Ross Medical Education Center with a degree as a medical assistant. Julie's background specializes in coding and accounts receivable for orthopaedic physicians, PM&R physicians, physical therapy, orthotics and prosthetics, emergency physicians, and family practice. She is also experienced in auditing, training, and provider education. Julie has been a member of MMBA for two years and begins as Grand Rapids Co-Chair in May 2009. Shelley Martin LANSING CO-CHAIR Shelley Martin is the Practice Manager and desk top support specialist for Pulmonary and Critical Care Consultants. Shelley has been employed by PCCC for 10 years and was previously the billing manager. Previously, she held the position of secretary for MMBA. After a brief leave, Shelley has returned as the Lansing co-chair. She has been doing billing for fifteen years. 'MMBA is a great resource for Billers of all Specialties'. | |

Amy Sloan LANSING CO-CHAIR Amy Sloan has been with Pulmonary and Critical Care Consultants PLLC for over eleven years. Amy has her Bachelors Degree in Business Management, and is currently a Coding and Billing Specialist. While working for Pulmonary, Amy discovered the MMBA through her boss and coworkers and was encouraged to attend the meetings. 'After just a few meetings it became quite clear how important the MMBA is to billers and office staff alike.' Amy is the Co-Chair for the Lansing Chapter. | |

Candace Lewis SAGINAW CHAPTER CHAIR Candace is a Senior Consulting Manager with Rehmann’s Healthcare Advisors and is based in the Farmington Hills office. Candace began her healthcare career in 2000 and advises clients on all aspects of healthcare management. Her experience includes revenue cycle management, billing and account receivable management, coding and documentation analysis, hiring and training staff, reimbursement analysis and evaluating office efficiency. Candace is also an instructor at Davenport University where she teaches an array of healthcare related classes such as reimbursement, billing, and coding. Prior to joining Rehmann in 2010, Candace was a Reimbursement Consultant with St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw. Candace holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration from Baker College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. |
